Srinagar, Apr 1: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, today said that her Government will try to engage with the youth who are involved in stone pelting and bring them out of the situation in which they are trapped.
Speaking to reporters at Dak Bungalow Khannabal in district Anantnag, Mehbooba said that her Government will engage with stone pelters and address their issues. “And, I understand there has been no work on this since year 2008. I want to say today with much seriousness that we will try to talk to all the children who are involved in stone-pelting and engage them and listen to their issues”, she added.
The Chief Minister said that she will find a way to bring out these children from the trap.
“And those who have FIRs as I had made a beginning we will talk about that. Our children are good in studies and games. We will try to bring out our children from this trap and will try to make a way to get them out of this”, she added.
She said that the process to talk to stone pelters had got stopped in the past and will be resumed again. “We will try to pull them out from this situation and will find a route to secure their future,” she added.
Earlier while addressing hundreds of party supporters from different parts of Anantnag constituency at Dak Bungalow, the Chief Minister said that Government will create jobs for the youth in Kashmir.
She urged the youth to take advantage of various skill development programmes and start their ventures for which she offered full support of the Government. She urged youth to focus on their studies so that they can get better jobs.
Mehbooba asked the youth not to fall in the trap of those who are inciting them to violence. She told them violence is no solution to their problems.
The PDP president urged her party workers to make the PDP strong and fulfill the dream of her late father who always worked for the betterment of the people of Kashmir.
Mehbooba in her address said that late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed ended Ikhwan Raj in Kashmir and always stressed for talks to resolve the issues. She said that when he was Chief Minister (2002-2005) he made efforts for India-Pakistan dialogue but there was no headway since then.
She batted for opening of more cross-Line of Control (LoC) roads and said that it was due to his untiring efforts that India and Pakistan agreed to re-open Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Road.
