JAMMU, Apr 2: A mentally unstable man died today after he set himself ablaze at his residence in Top Sherkhanian area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a Sardari Lal (62) son of Chajju Ram, resident of Top Sherkhaniyan, who was mentally unstable and was taking medicine for last three years to cure from mental illness, this morning set himself ablaze by pouring kerosene on himself.
He said that the man with about 90 percent burn injuries was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries there at about 6 PM. “The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem”, the spokesman said, adding, a case under relevant sections has been registered in this connection at concerned police station.
