JAMMU, Apr 3: On 48th consecutive day of ongoing hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers (10 + 2), who are demanding their regularization, family members and children of the agitators joined them at the dharna site near Press Club Jammu.
Children of the Contractual Lecturers accompanied their parents on the hunger strike and appealed the Government to give a sympathetic view to `genuine’ demand of regularization. They also raised slogans in support of the demand and said that because of meager salary of Rs 7000, children of Contractual Lecturers were facing inadequate parental care and educational attention.
The children warned the Government that if services of their parents are not regularized, worst will be the consequences of State in future. The wards of the Contractual Lecturers also appealed the Prime Minister of India as well as Chief Minister of J&K State to personally intervene into the matter and issue necessary instructions to get this fowl play stopped.
These agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
Meanwhile, one of Contractual Lecturer, Seema Rajput, who is on fast unto death since March 12, was rushed to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of her deteriorating condition.
Sanjay Kumar, Tufail, Saroj Bala and Madhavi Sharma began their chain hunger strike today.
While addressing the protest dharna, Arun Bakshi, State president of (10+2) Contractual Lecturers Forum said that Government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards them and adopt sympathetic way to settle the problem of the highly educated Contractual Lecturers (10+2) who are on hunger strike since February 14, 2017.
Justifying their demand, he said that all the agitating Lecturers were contractual vide order no.1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD, according to which all the Contractual Lecturers are to be continued till further order and their regularization.
