JAMMU, Apr 4: The ongoing hunger strike by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 50th day today as the Government did not respond to their demand for regularization.
This morning, fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers began their chain hunger strike. They include Ranjan Bala, Ahsa Rani, Jeevan Kumar and Randeep Singh. Seema Rajput, who is on fast unto death since March 12 and had been shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu last week in view of her critical condition, today rejoined the agitating colleagues near Press Club after being discharged from the hospital.
The protesting Contractual Lecturers raised slogans against the State Government and Education Minister. They also threatened to further intensify their ongoing agitation and gherao the ministers if the Government does not concede their demand for the regularization.
These agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad hock, Contractual and Consolidated employees after seven years of their service.
Last evening, these Contractual Lecturers had held a protest demonstration in front of the State BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar Jammu. Earlier, children of the Contractual Lecturers had joined their parents at the protest dharna venue.
