BJP holds various functions across State to observe 37th Foundation Day

JAMMU, Apr 6: BJP organized functions across the State in connection with celebration of its 37th Foundation Day. The main function was held at party headquarters Trikuta Nagar in which BJP national vice president and incharge of the State, Avinash Rai Khanna was the chief guest while organizing general secretary of the Party for North East Ajay Jamwal was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Addressing the function Avinash Rai Khanna threw light on the history of party which was formed on this day in 1980 after the then Jansangh which had merged in the Janata Party in disassociated with it. He said BJP is not only a political party but it is the name of peoples’ movement which struggled a lot for the rights of common masses and strengthening of democracy in the country.
He paid tributes to the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) Dr Shamaprashad Mookerjee who made the supreme sacrifice on the land of Jammu and Kashmir for the total integration of the State with Indian Union and here from the history of sacrifices of the Party started.
He said whether it was the fight against the divisive forces in J&K or any other part of the country BJP was frontrunner in fighting against the forces who were inimical to the national cause. The Party stood like a rock to oppose the black days of emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in the country and thousands of party leaders and activists were jailed during this period.
Khanna said BJP which believes in strengthening basic values of democracy is of the firm belief that last man in the last queue should reap the benefit of democracy as was the dream of one of its greatest leader Pt Deen Dayal Upadaya.
He said in J&K where the BJP had one MLC in 1996 has 26 MLAs , 10 MLCs, and four MPs, three in Lok Sabha and one in Rajya Sabha. Besides party which is ruling at Centre has also Government in 16 States. This shows that BJP is gaining popularity day by day under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
In his address Ajay Jamwal said BJP has reached to present stage after a long struggle by its activists. He said unlike other political parties BJP is not a dynastic party and here a common man can rose to the level of a top leader by the dint of his hard work and dedication.
Jamwal who is the incharge of North East said that party has made in roads there too now and formation of Government in Mizoram recently is an indication that BJP is not a stranger for the people of this region now.
Addressing the function Sat Sharma also highlighted the achievements of the Party as well as Government led by Narendra Modi at Centre and State coalition.
Speaker State Assembly Kavinder Gupta also spoke on the occasion. He gave credit of party’s increasing graph to its basic workers who he said is the soul and blood of the Party.
Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi, former State president Ashok Khajuria, general secretary Narinder Singh and Harinder Gupta and secretary Sanjay Baru were also present on the occasion.
Function were also organized by BJP Displaced District and Durga Mandal of the party. The functions were presided over by Chand Ji Bhat and M L Bhat respectively in which Party’s achievements were highlighted.
BJP Udhampur also organized the function to celebrate the Foundation Day under the leadership of party general secretary of the State Pawan Khajuria in which the achievements of both State and Central Governments were highlighted and party men were exhorted by Khajuria to have a good liaison with  masses.
Keshav Chopra BJP Talab Tillo Mandal vice president and  booth president 76 of Jammu West organised Foundation Day celebration programme at Booth Number 76 in which Ayodhya Gupta district president BJP, Puneet Gupta were present.
Ayodhya Gupta with Keshav Chopra distributed BJP flags to party workers at booth level. Ayodhya also extended greetings to all party workers and hoisted the party flag along with the locals to mark the celebrations.
BJP also celebrated the Foundation Day at a function held at Bishnah. The function was attended by MLC and senior leader Ashok Khajuria as chief guest while the senior Party leader and ex MLA Bishnah Ashwani Sharma was also present on the occasion.
BJP Mandal Thanamandi organized a colourful programme at Thanamandi to celebrate the 37th Foundation Day of the Party today.  The programme was attended by BJP MLC Vibodh Gupta and Mandal president Abdul Ghani Shawl.
The party held programmes at Srinagar and other district headquarters in the Valley. At Srinagar function BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul was the chief guest. He said BJP has now made inroads in Kashmir and Ladakh regions also and large number of people are joining the party to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister , Narendra Modi.
