Sangarsh’s week-long Rajouri Day celebration commences

RAJOURI, Apr 6: Continuing the last year’s spirit, the activists of Sangarsh- this year too came up with week-long celebrations of “Rajouri Day” which marks the event of re-capturing Peer Panjal region from the Pakistan sponsored Tribal forces in 1948.
The week-long event was inaugurated today by MLA Rajouri, Qamar Hussain and Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal, Government PG College, Rajouri. The celebration began with the successful conduct of competitions in solo singing, solo dance and skits on the contemporary issues at Government PG College, Rajouri in which more than 30 participants from various academic institutions of the area participated.
In his inaugural speech, Qamar Hussain recalled the history of Peer Panjal region when the people of all walks of the society irrespective of any caste, creed or religion fought against the Pakistan sponsored forces for the unity and brotherhood of the nation.
“The spirit was just to recapture the mother land from the bloody hands of the disguised forces and to set up the example of communal harmony before the world as the people of this region stand with the Indian nation and are always ready to even sacrifice their lives for the Indian nation”, he added.
Prof  Shabir Hussain Shah, while speaking on the occasion, said that he and his institution is always there with the young intellect minds of this area for carrying out such activities which strengthens the bonds of love, kindness and  prosperity and are helpful in inculcating the values among the coming generation.
Coordinator of the event, Vikrant Sharma, in his presidential remarks stated that the prime motive is to fill the missing links between the old and the next generation so that the golden history of the area is remembered and keep alive.
