SRINAGAR, Oct 16: N. N. Vohra, Governor, and Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, have stressed the need for taking the activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides to the remote and far-flung areas of the State to bring the maximum possible number of youth under its orbit.
The Governor and the Chief Minister were interacting with Scouts and Guides, their Instructors and the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, at the 8th Rajya Puraskar Award Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here this afternoon.
The Governor, who is the Patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented Rajya Puraskar to 88 successful Scouts and Guides of the Kashmir Valley at the Award Presentation Ceremony. He also presented the President’s Award to a Guide, Deba Nazir, on this occasion.
The Governor and the Chief Minister lauded the good work being done by the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides and congratulated the recipients of the Awards. They evinced keen interest in the skill demonstration presented by the Scouts and Guides on this occasion, interacted with the awardees and wished them bright careers ahead.
Earlier, the Governor unfolded the Scouts and Guides flag. The Scouts and Guides presented prayer and the flag song. The Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries were also presented the Scout Scarf and bouquets on the occasion.
R. S. Chib, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture, Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Jai Pal Singh, Director Youth Services and Sports, N. A. Khan, State Chief Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, Roma Wani, Senior Lady Vice President, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, senior functionaries of the organization and a good number of Scouts and Guides and their leaders were present at the function.
N. A. Khan, State Chief Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, briefed the Governor and the Chief Minister about the activities of the organization in the State and the future plan of action for further promotion thereof.
Roma Wani, Senior Lady Vice President, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented a Vote of Thanks.
