DGP reviews Darbar move, Eid arrangements

SRINAGAR, Oct 16: In order to review the security arrangements for Annual Darbar move and Eid-ul-Zuha celebrations, a high level meeting of senior officers was convened at PCR here this morning. Chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, the meeting was attended by senior police, para-military, civil and intelligence officers.
The meeting discussed various arrangements for Annual Darbar move and it was informed that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure the security of employees and records, their transportation from Srinagar to Jammu.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP stressed upon the officers present in the meeting to work in close coordination and make all required arrangements in a befitting manner. He said that the arrangements should be finalized well in advance and stake holders should be consulted while making the arrangements. He said that joint efforts by the concerned agencies would ensure security and safety of the employees besides smooth transportation of records. While making arrangements it should be kept in mind that the common commuters are not put to any inconvenience during their travel on the highway, asked the DGP.
Mr. Prasad emphasised for ensuring all required security and other arrangements throughout the Valley during the Eid celebrations. He asked for ensuring sufficient police bandbust at all the religious places where congregations would took place so that the celebrations ends peacefully, besides maintaining law and order during the celebrations.
ADGP Armed/Law and Order, K. Rajendra Kumar and ADGP (Security), Dr. Ram Lubhaya briefed the meeting about the deployment of man power and security gadgets at Srinagar and Jammu, besides the National Highway. They said that sufficient manpower would be deployed enroute National Highway for the security of the employees and records.
IGP Kashmir Zone, S. M. Sahai informed the meeting about arrangements made at different places where Eid prayers would be held. He said that all required arrangements would be made to make the access of the people to the places of worship convenient.
IGP Traffic J&K, Muneer Ahmed Khan also briefed the meeting about the arrangements made for the smooth flow of traffic on the National Highway on the scheduled dates.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters), S. P. Vaid, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, IGP, Dr. B. Srinivas, DIGs, S. S. Khandare, Syed Ahdaful Mujataba, Vijay Kumar and Shafakat Watali, Dy. Commissioner Srinagar, Baseer Ahmed Khan, SSPs, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, Sheikh Mahmood and other officers.
