LPG outlets raided, DC to lodge FIRs

JAMMU, Oct 16: Teams from the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and Legal Meteorology Department today jointly conducted raids at various LPG agencies including JAKFED, Maa Vaishno Devi Gas Agency, Narwal and Chenab Trading Company, Ambphalla and found irregularities in stock diversion of domestic gas cylinders for commercial purposes etc.
Mr Verma told the Excelsior that raids were conducted following complaints by the consumers that they were being made to wait for days together to get LPG cylinders despite availability of cylinders in the agencies.
The raiding teams detected shortage of LPG cylinders, delay in delivery to consumers, diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes and denial of Know Your Customer Forms to the people deliberately, the DC Jammu said, adding that the administration had decided to lodge FIRs against the gas companies in the police station for supply domestic LPG cylinders to commercial installations like hotels, dhabas and other eatable shops.
He said the administration would also write to the head offices of the agencies to cancel the distribution of the LPG outlets, which denied gas cylinders to the genuine customers.
Mr Verma said the drive against the gas agencies would continue. He added that action was also being initiated including registration of FIRs against commercial installations, found using domestic gas cylinders.
