KAKRYAL, Apr 9: Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman, alongwith all members of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Dr. Devi Shetty,Chairman, Narayana Health, Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore, with whom the Shrine Board has collaborated to set up the Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, visited the hospital today and undertook an extensive review on the completion of one year of the hospital’s functioning.
They visited the various diagnostic and treatment units and, thereafter, held an extensive meeting to decide the future expansion of facilities to meet the emerging requirements of this tertiary care hospital and developing it as a centre for providing excellent standards of patient care.
The meeting expressed satisfaction on the hospital’s functioning in the past one year. It is relevant to mention that this hospital was operationalized on April 8 last year and formally inaugurated on April 19, 2016 by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
Considering the pressing medical care needs of the State the meeting decided to set up a PET CT scanner before December 2017. This facility will, interalia, help immensely in early diagnoses of cancers. It was also decided to early commence Robotic Surgery in the hospital to augment non-invasive micro endoscopic surgery which is an advanced technique in ensuring bloodless surgery and also helps in quick recovery of the patient. This would be the first such facility in the State.
The other new facilities planned to be put in place in the hospital this year include Renal, Liver and Cardiac Transplant, Bone Marrow Transplant, Neuro Rehabilitation and augmentation of the existing facilities of Endoscopic Ultrasound, Electro Physiology, Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.
It was also decided that  free Registration of patients for OPD treatment at the hospital will continue upto 31st August 2017;  free OPD will continue upto 31st December 2017; and there will be adiscount of 10% on Dialysis and sale of medicine in the OPD pharmacy.
The meeting noted that in the past one year the hospital provided relief worth Rs. 5.31 crore to the patients in the form of free OPD, 50% concession on the first 200 major surgeries and 10% discount on OPD pharmacy. The Shrine Board has also spent Rs. 2.91 crore for providing free treatment to pilgrims, poor and needy patients, inhabitants of nearby villages, landowners, employees of the Shrine Board and students of the Shrine Board’s Gurukul and Nursing College.
The meeting was informed that the hospital has setup a multi-speciality Clinic at Sansar Tower (near Bahu Plaza) in Jammu where consultation facilities have been made available on rotational basis in the disciplines of cardiology, cardiac surgery, neuro surgery, neurology, orthopaedics and joint replacements, urology, oncology, nephrology, pulmonolgy, etc. It was decided to take bound steps to significantly enlarge the set-up in Jammu, before end of 2017.
Besides Dr. Devi Shetty the meeting was attended by Dr. E. Sreedharan, Sudha Murty, Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Dr. Ashok Bhan, H.L. Maini, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma and B. B. Vyas, all Board Members; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. M.M. Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Hospital; Dr. Piyush Singla and Dr. M. K. Kumar,Additional CEOs of the Shrine Board; and Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Director of  Narayana Health.
