Huge traffic jam at Lakhanpur

KATHUA, Apr 9: The commuters have been put to grave problems due to traffic jam at Lakhanpur for last three days.
According to reports huge traffic jam has been witnessed at Lakhanpur Toll Post for last three days which has led to public outcry.
Reports said that three days back a vehicle with bovine animals crossed the Lakhanpur Toll Post and it was later detained by Police at National Highway. Taking serious exception to crossing of the vehicle with bovine animals via Lakhanpur Toll Post, Excise Commissioner J&K ordered thorough checking of each and every vehicle crossing the Toll Post and this resulted in huge traffic jam and problems to commuters and a public outcry in the area.
People said that the Traffic Police and district police is also not cooperating with Excise Department in regulating the traffic on the Highway which has further compounded the problem.
However, when contacted Rajesh Kumar DC Excise said that the issue will be sorted out and the matter will be discussed with Excise Commissioner also so that the problem is solved.
The people said the patients from the State who are going for treatment outside the State like PGI Chandigrah, Fortis etc are facing hardships in waiting in traffic jam for hours together.
