JAMMU, Apr 11: Senior National Conference leader and former Minister, Ajay Sadhotra today slammed the PDP-BJP coalition Government for delay in opening of Nikki Tawi Bridge and wrongly made approach roads.
He was addressing a large number of people of Phaalian Mandal who were on a sit-in protest at Nikki Tawi new Bridge at Phallain Mandal, against delay in opening of bridge and wrong construction of approach roads to newly constructed Nikki Tawi Bridge.
Sadhotra said the then Omar Abdullah Government allocated Rs 22 Crore for construction of new bridge after 2014 devastating flood in which existing Nikki Tawi bridge was washed away.
National Conference leader further said that present approach roads of new bridge on Nikki Tawi have been constructed without applying proper mind and engineering and there is every apprehension of frequent accidents on the bridge site, as instead of making approach roads with proper alignment curved approach roads have been made.
“This bridge is going to be a double lane historical bridge which will benefit the people of this area, as for last so many years, the people were using single lane bridge”, Sadhotra said and emphasized the need of immediately correcting the approach roads as per alignment of the bridge so that in the long run, people may not face any sort of problem.
Sadhotra demanded that the bridge be thrown open for the vehicular traffic at the earliest and before opening it, the approaches should be straitened as per the alignment of the bridge.
