Legal Awareness Camp held

JAMMU, Apr 11: Government Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Udhampur organized an awareness programme on heinous forms of attacks especially on women, anti-ragging laws and child labour laws.
Sushil Singh, Munsiff (JMIC Udhampur) was the chief guest on the occasion and Parveen Pandoh, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Traffic was the guest of honour. Retainer lawyers Pawan Gupta, Shallu Khajuria and Yasmeen were the resource persons.
Prof Rakesh Kumar Gupta, HoD Zoology presented the welcome address.
The legal experts deliberated in detail over the mentioned topics and highlighted the issues regarding causes of acid attacks on women, ragging in institutions and child labour. They also explained in detail the laws available to punish the culprits for doing such type of heinous crimes. They also explained the role of NALSA, SALSA, DALSA and TALSA in providing legal services to the victims at National, State, District and Tehsil level respectively.
They advised the students to disseminate the information among common masses in order to curb such barbaric incidents.
Later, an interactive session was also held in which students raised many queries which were answered by the legal experts.
Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra conducted the proceedings and Dr Udhey bhanu proposed vote of thanks.
Besides large number of students, Prof Romesh Kumar Atri, Prof Kamal Kishore, Prof Anu Radha Kalsi, Dr Subhra Jamwal, Prof Vipul Chalotra and other faculty members were also present.
