Arms haul in Kalakote forests

JAMMU, Apr 11: Army today recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives during a search operation in Tatta Pani forests in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district.
Reports said a team of Rashtriya Rifles battalion of Counter Insurgency Force of the Army busted a hideout of the militants in Tatta Pani forests after developing specific input about a dump of arms and ammunition and carrying out searches in the area for past few days.
Recoveries made from the hideout included one sniper rifle with telescopic sight (Chinese), one AK-47 rifle, one AK-74 rifle, one 7.62 mm pistol, one Chinese pistol (Mauser), one .32 revolver (Made in Pakistan), four hand held radio sets, one binocular and around 150 rounds of ammunition.
Official sources said timely recovery of arms, ammunition and explosive devices has thwarted possible terror strike by the militants.
After effecting recoveries, Army conducted searches in the area for suspected militants or their Over Ground Workers. However, no arrests were made.
