NEW DELHI: Government today said the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) was running a campaign to provide health facilities to maximum number of employees and efforts were on to open hospitals and dispensaries.

Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya replying to a Supplementary in the Rajya Sabha said ESI health facilities were available in 393 districts and this facility would also be available in 85 district headquarters.

He said the Government has began a survey to start health facilities in nearly 203 districts, and the issue of shortage of doctors and nursing staff was being addressed through recruitment.

Mr Dattatreya said wherever there were 3,000 insured families, two doctors would be available in the dispensary. He said medical facilities were also being provided to those working in construction.

The Minister said so far 1.30 crore construction workers have come into this fold due to which it has become necessary to expand the medical facilities.          (AGENCIES)
