CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police today claimed to have arrested two persons belonging to a suspected terror module set up by a Europe-based radical militant group to target leaders and members of socio-religious organisations in the state.
Palwinder Singh alias Ghodu, resident of Ball area in Batala; and Sandeep Kumar alias Kaalu alias Shinda, resident of Puriyan Mohalla were apprehended by the Counter Intelligence Unit of Punjab Police.
An official spokesperson said the duo had been tasked with creating political instability in the state by fanning communal passions.
“A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also seized from their possession,” he said.
The seizure included 9 mm pistol, two 32 bore pistols, a 12 bore country-made gun, six magazines and 46 live rounds. (AGENCIES)
