JAMMU, Apr 19: For the success of Swachh Bharat Mission initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RS Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A) and Dr Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), on the instructions of Dr Manmohan Singh, Commissioner, JMC, distributed dustbins among shopkeepers at Gole Market and Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Besides, sanitation staff of Health Wing of JMC, Kulbir Singh, president, Gole Market Association, Ashu Gupta, chairman and Amit Jandyal, president, Apsara Road Market Association, were also present along with their other association members.
Speaking on this occasion, RS Jamwal appealed the association members to cooperate with JMC. The shopkeepers were asked to collect the garbage of their shops in these dustbins and the Safaikaramcharies of the areas will dispose the same. The shopkeepers can also dispose the garbage in the nearby containers/dustbins instead of throwing out of their shops. If anybody found shall be strictly dealt under the provisions of Municipal Corporation Act 2000.
The Joint Commissioner (A) apprised the markets association that these dustbins are being distributed under Swachh Bharat Mission in order to improve the sanitation of area in the vicinity of these markets. The sanitation of those areas where the dustbins were earlier provided has been improved. This process will remain continue till all the markets of city will not be covered.
Kulbir Singh, Ashu Gupta and Amit Jandyal appealed the shopkeepers to collect the garbage in these dustbins for further disposal so that the roads and lanes remained neat and clean. They also assured their full cooperation to JMC for the success of Swachh Bharat Mission.
