JAMMU, Apr 21: Dr Yogita Rana, IAS, an alumni of Jammu Medical College, today bagged Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for her outstanding work in eNAM.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally handed over the award to Dr Yogita Rana amidst a pompous and glittering gathering of 3000 civil servants at New Delhi. The award included a citation and Rs 10 lakh prize money.
eNAM is a national e-market platform created by GoI for transparent sale transactions and price discovery in State Agriculture Market Committee. She did exceptional work to implement eNAM in Nizamabad APMC, where she is working as District Collector.
Her innovative actions like establishment of direct purchase centre in Nizamabad Market Yard, issue of farmer entitlement cards, bank linkage of online transfer of funds to farmers, etc.., has made her standing above all her counter parts across the country, who were involved in implementation of eNAM.
Dr Yogita got into Indian Administrative Service in 2003. She had spent six years of her service in various tribal areas of Andhra and Telangana States. She implemented “Umeed”, a special project of Ministry of Rural Development in Jammu and Kashmir as a representative of UNDP. Umeed is aimed at bringing social transformation of rural women through formation of self help groups.
She has been working as District Collector Nizamabad since 2014. During her stint as District Collector, she took up various initiatives for welfare of down trodden and women. She established Manavatha Centre in Nizamabad district which services as centre for welfare of orphans of HIV affected parents. Her initiative increased institutional deliveries from 20% to 60% in Government hospitals which won the accolades of the State Government.
Dr Yogita received the best District Collector award from the Government of Telangana in 2016 in recognition of her work to increase the green cover in the district of Nizamabad. In the same year, she bagged a national award from Union Ministry of Rural Development for her excellent work taken up under MGNREGA in Nizamabad district.
