JAMMU, Apr 21: Govt Employees, Casual Workers & Pensioners United Platform, an umbrella organization of several unions and associations of the State Govt employees and pensioners today resolved to hold protest rally in Jammu on April 25.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mohd Gafoor Dar, senior Trade Union leader declared to hold strong protest demonstration by employees and pensioners including casual/ temporary workers near Press Club Jammu on April 25, to press the Govt to frame a policy for the regularization of over 61,000 temporary/ casual workers in the State.
Dar alleged that Govt has failed to frame a policy despite its declaration on the floor of the J&K Legislative Assembly during last Budget Session. The Govt even failed to issue an SRO on the subject. The indifferent attitude of the Govt and its delaying stance has forced the employees and workers to come out on the roads.
He also condemned the attitude of ICDS authorities for not regularizing Anganwadi workers/ Helpers who have rendered services for more than twenty years in the Social Welfare Department. Even a large number of workers from PDD, PHE, Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Health department have been ignored, he added.
Dar warned the Government to release the pending wages of the casual/ daily rated workers of various departments as their families are facing starvation. He termed this act of Govt as grave Human Rights violation in the State.
Senior trade unionists, Rajinder Kumar, Akhil Sharma, Puneet Sharma, Pardeep Singh, Vikramjeet Singh, Tanveer Hussain , Nazir Ahmed Molvi also addressed the conference.
