JAMMU, Apr 21: The ongoing hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 67th day on Friday while there was no response from the Government towards their demand for regularization.
Today, these agitating lecturers held a protest demonstration near Press Club Jammu while carrying black flags. They were raising slogans against the State Government and the Education Minister for their callous attitude towards their genuine demands.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
While addressing the gathering, president of Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association, Arun Bakshi said that they showed black flags to express their resentment against insensitive attitude of the Government towards their grievance. He appealed the Chief Minister to spare only two minutes time to personally listen to their grievances and then take a decision on their demand.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by Balvinder Kour, Jeevan Kumar and others who reiterated the Association resolve to continue the ongoing hunger strike till their demand of regularization is conceded.
Meanwhile, Sangeeta Sambyal, Payal Sharma, Sulinder Sharma and Bushan Sharma began their chain hunger strike today.
