JAMMU, Apr 22: Spinal Cord Injury Association (SCIA) is going to hold 3rd International Spinal Cord Injury Conference “VISTAAR-2” on 24th April, 2017, in the premises of Lovely Professional University, Jalandar.
In the conference, Cabinet Minister, S Navjot Singh Sidhu will be the chief guest and Member of Parliament, Gurjeet Singh Bajwa be the guest of honour.
Vice President of the Association, Davinder Singh informed that the convention will be organized with a view to provide platform to the people suffering from Spinal Cord Injuries and Disorders (SCI/D) so that they will interact each other which will build a confidence among them.
The main motive of the Spinal Cord Injury Association is to serve as a comprehensive resource center for individuals who have been personally affected by Spinal Cord Injury, those working in related fields, and other interested persons. The mission also includes working to prevent new injuries from happening.
The main focus of the conference will be laid on tracing people suffering from spinal cord injury, donate active wheelchairs to make them mobile, counselling them to go for rehabilitation for independent living, vocational training to make them financially independent and motivate people with spinal cord injury to go for marriage.
Singh said “We believe no person should be excluded from opportunity on the basis of their disability. Our goal is to provide people living with SCI/D programs and services that maximise their independence and enable them to remain active and be part of their communities.”
