Doctors, paramedics call off indefinite strike, resume work

DODA, Apr 22: After two days of indefinite strike, which hit the patient care badly, the staff of District Hospital called off their indefinite strike after the suspension order of Consultant Surgeon Dr Rakesh Kumar was revoked by Deputy Commissioner (DC).
As per reports, the staff of District Hospital including Consultants, Medical Officers and Paramedical staff went on indefinite strike yesterday after one of the  Consultant Surgeon Dr  Rakesh Kumar was suspended by DC Doda on April 7 over some baseless allegations against him by some attendants of a patient.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the Senior Consultant of DH Doda Dr Aftab Ahmed Khan said that all the allegations levelled against Dr Rakesh Kumar are totally baseless and false, adding that some vested elements tried to tarnish the image of said doctor.
He added that they don’t want to go on strike but the uncalled suspension on baseless allegations on our colleague forced us to take this step, so they were left with no other option but to go on a strike.
On the second day of strike, members from different NGOs and Civil Society from Doda also participated in the strike and expressed their solidarity and support with the agitating employees.
Meanwhile, Director Health Services Jammu Dr  Gurjeet Singh Sudan, ADDC Doda Mohammad Hanief Malik, CMO Doda Dr Wajid Ali Najar and Tehsildar Doda Nasir Natnoo visited District Hospital and met with the agitating employees and request them to resume their duties auuring them that the suspension order would be revoked.
Later, DC Doda Bhupinder Kumar revoked the suspension order of Dr Rakesh Kumar. DC also constituted a committee including ADDC Doda, Tehsildar Doda and Deputy CMO Doda to furnish the factual report with in a period of ten days in this case.
