Jammu migrants discuss demands

JAMMU, Apr 22: In an emergency meeting conveyed by the Jammu Migrant Welfare Committee (JMWC) here, today under the chairmanship of its President various demands and problems being faced by these hapless people were discussed.
A large number of the Executive members and others participated in the meeting. In this meeting several burning issues of the migrants were discussed and highlighted in the meeting.
In his address president of the Committee -Suraj Rana said that 17 families under the beneficiaries list have been ignored by the Relief organisation, Jammu.  The other 13 families who are already registered in the Nanak Nagar Zone, Jammu have not been paid the arrears of the relief. Similarly, the inclusion, additions and other alternations were not made by the authorities concerned.
The Doda migrants who were entitled for the 10 litres of the Kerosene  oil have been ignored by the Department so far. However, the cattle compensation of Rs 300/- per month has not been released from the date it has been effected and entitled for the migrants. In addition to all the above, the Government accommodation and the employment of the migrants from the district Doda were not been provided the job opportunity at par with the Kashmiri Pandits migrated from the Valley.
The Committee also appealed Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh   and Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh- that the existing relief is quite insufficient. It is not possible to  make both ends meet on the meagre relief amount of Rs. 10,000/- per month and appealed to enhance the amount  to  Rs 20,000/.
Vice president of the Committee Ali Mohd. Khan, general Secretary, Satish Kotwari, advisor Joginder Singh and others were also present in the meeting.
