IPL 2017: Rohit Sharma fined for showing dissent at umpire’s decision

NEW DELHI, Apr 25:  Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for showing dissent at the umpire’s decision during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
The incident happened in the match between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant at the Wankhede Stadium last night when the home skipper entered into an argument with umpire S Ravi.
An official statement from the IPL governing body today said,”Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians captain, was fined 50 percent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during his team’s VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match against the Rising Pune Supergiant at the Wankhede Stadium.”
“Sharma admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.1.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct for players and team officials. This is Sharma’s second Level 1 offence this season. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” it added.
Notably, the incident occurred during the final over of last night’s match which Mumbai, who was chasing 161 runs to win, lost by three runs. (AGENCIES)
