SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders were today ‘forced’ to cancel their condolence visit to the house of slain party leader in Rohmoo area of Pulwama district following protest in the area ahead of their arrival.
Sources said that four PDP leaders, including a junior Minister and Member of Parliament, were today scheduled to visit house of Abdul Gani Dar, who was killed by militants yesterday at Pulwama, and offer their condolence to the bereaved family.
As part of security arrangement, the security forces reached Rohmoo in advance and as people who were busy in their routine day-to-day activities downed their shutters and assembled on roads, the sources said, adding that some youth also pelted stones on security forces but they exercised restraint and didn’t use any kind of force.
Amid tense situation, the PDP leaders cancelled their visit to slain party leader’s house. After learning that the PDP leaders are not arriving in the area, the residents of Rohmoo resumed their usual activities and normalcy prevailed in the area, the sources added.
