JAMMU, Apr 25: Denouncing the selective condemnation of violent incidents, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that there is a clan which indulges in selective condemnation of violent incidents and makes a hue and cry on such acts but turns a blind eye when the security forces attain martyrdom.
Talking to reporters at the sidelights of a party meeting at BJP Headquarters here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the martyrdom of soldiers, who are defending the nation to make us feel secure is the biggest human rights violation.
He said the people should see through the game plan of those politicians who turn blind eye to supreme sacrifices of soldiers made in terrorists attacks or Maoist attacks and condemn other incidents of violence for their own interests.
Dr Jitendra Singh while turning tables on opposition leaders in J&K said there is not a single word of condemnation from them on the Maoists’ attack in Sukma and hence they have no moral authority of condemning the other killings.
While referring to the statement of senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh who targeted Government on Sukma incident, he said the nation is indebted to Army and no such statement should be made that demoralizes the troops. Dr Jitendra Singh said that “we should not do politicking on such incidents as this does not serve the cause of nation, martyrs as well as the leaders who make such statements”.
Exuding confidence that peace will return to trouble torn Kashmir valley soon, the Union Minster said that the Central Government has extended full support to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in this regard. He expressed the hope that with the efforts of both Union as well as State Governments, the normalcy can be restored in the Valley soon and people of the State will also become part of developmental programme launched in the country by Narendra Modi Government.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that majority of people in Kashmir want peace and they are for the progress of the State on the pattern of the rest of country under the policies and programmes launched by Narendra Modi Government.
In response to a question on Pakistan involvement in Kashmir unrest, Dr Jitendra Singh said that role of neighboring country is evident as it is the mother of terrorism and human rights violations especially the HR violations committed by it in PoK as well as Gilgit-Baltistan.
In response to another question that whether the security of the separatist leaders should be withdrawn, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Home Ministry should take cognizance of it. He made it clear that by giving security to separatists a message should not go that there is premium on anti India activism.
Regarding Mehbooba’s statement that Central Government was controlling the State’s water resources, Dr Jitendra Singh said “some issues are linked to Centre and let them be under the Central control”.
On the recently created controversy over MLCs issue, the Union Minister said whatsoever controversy was there it has been resolved now to the satisfaction of both coalition partners.
On the statement of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad that restoration of peace was not possible in PDP-BJP Government, Dr Jitendra said but the people of the State don’t want opposition parties as they have given a verdict in last elections against them.
He said PDP-BJP has the mandate of people as it is the democratically elected Government by people of the State. While ridiculing Azad’s statement, he asked whether Congress leader want that his party should be given power in the State to restore normalcy. He (Azad) should explain what alternative he has, Dr Singh asked.
When asked what steps the Government at Centre was taking to restore normalcy in the State where the stone pelting and incidents of violence are on increase, the Union Minister though did not rule out a conspiracy behind stone pelting incidents in Valley, said that all issues related to security can’t be discussed in public. He, however, made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir is the top priority of the present Union Government.
He said “the Home Ministry is dealing with Kashmir situation so we should trust their wisdom and leave it to them”.
Dr Jitendra Singh while strongly condemning the misuse of social media and internet said that action will be taken against such elements.
Hitting out at Opposition parties especially the Congress and NC, he said Kashmir crisis are their creation. While referring to statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah that the sincerity is missing in finding solution to Kashmir issue, he said no one takes cognizance of it as if he is given power tomorrow, he will say Kashmir is the integral part of India as he has done in past also.
He said NC and Congress should play a constructive role in defusing the crisis instead of indulging in dislodging the State Government.
On Delhi Municipality elections, Dr Jitendra Singh said that BJP will set a new record in these elections. The people of Delhi have understood that it is only BJP in whose hands their interests are safe and assured that BJP will make Delhi a role model.
