JAMMU, Apr 26: ABVP today submitted a memorandum, addressed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, demanding that the Jammu University decision on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in UG Courses should be temporarily kept in abeyance till basic parameters and required faculty are ensured in the campuses.
The delegation of ABVP Jammu Mahanagar, led by State secretary Varsha Jandial, submitted the memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Jammu for further action.
The delegation comprised of Deepak Gupta, Pulkit Chrungoo, Kamaljeet Manhas, Vidash Dalmotra and others.
In the memorandum, ABVP explained that the University Academic Council has approved the introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in Under Graduate Courses (UG) to provide one optional subject apart from their mainstream subjects. “It is motive is to let students acquire knowledge of a subject of one’s own choice also. But the present scenario in Higher Education does not offer choice to study subjects because of non-availability of faculty for even existing compulsory subjects. Keeping in view these aspects, we believe that the new system would only create problems to the students and hence the CBCS should be temporarily kept in abeyance,” says the memorandum.
