PHE workers begin three-day dharna

JAMMU, Apr 26: Akhnoor unit of PHE Workers Welfare Association started three day consecutive dharna from today in the office premises of Executive Engineer PHE Division Akhnoor under the leadership of Rachhhpal Singh, unit president.
A large number of employees from far flung areas of Akhnoor tehsil like Khour, Chowki Choura, Mathwar, Rabta, Maira Mandrian, Kot Bhalwal and Chiri participated inthe dharna in support of their long pending demands.
Annoyed employees shouted slogans against the higher PHE authorities who have miserably failed to solve the demands of workers despite commitments in that regard. They have been stressing hard for redressal of their pending demands such as retaining mechanical staff from Mech Rural Division to PHE Division Akhnoor, regularization of  workers after 5 years, monthwise wages to all sorts of workers, release of all backlog wages in one instalment and al daily rated workers be paid Rs 150 per day besides conducting of DPC meetings.
Provincial president of the Association  and general secretary of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh Subash Verma while addressing workers at dharna site said that PHE authorities have been harassing the mechanical staff in the name of transfers and such staff has been dislocated again and again. He stressed upon the Chief Engineer to send back mechanical staff to PHE Division Akhnoor without any delay, otherwise the association will not hesitate to take stern action. He urged the Chief Engineer to follow the demands which stand agreed by the Minister concerned on April 1, 2017 during negotiations with the association.
Prominent office bearers who addressed the workers were Kuldeep Sharma, Ajit Singh, RamLal, Puran Chand, Vijay Kumar, Kounsil Singh, Ramesh Chander, Kuldip Raj, S Sukhdev Singh, Devanand and Tarsem Singh.
