Vikalp distributes computers among children of rural areas

JAMMU, Apr 26: Vikalp – a students’ initiative at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, organized computer course entitled, “O level Computer Foundation Course” and also distributed computer sets among toppers of the course test.
More than 90 students participated in the course. The course was free of cost and the targeted group was children of nearby rural areas of SMVD University, ranging from 6th to 12th standard.  The students were taught applications of computers, types of computer, main components of computer, input and output devices, operating systems, types of computer networks, etc.
The event was coordinated by  Rajat Kumar Mishra (Student Coordinator, Vikalp) while  Raj Kamal,  Ajit Kumar,  Piyush Saini,  Rahul,  Ashutosh Yadav,  Rameshwar,  Raju Kumar,  Anand Bharti,  Nitish,  Rishabh Kamboj,  Guneet,  Neha Sharma,  Bharti,  Devika,  Neha Bandral,  Shubhangi,  Harshita,  Medha, and  Mithali were the student instructors.
An evaluation test was conducted at the end of the course. Based on the evaluation test, prizes and certificates were distributed among the students in the valedictory session which was attended by Dr  Rakesh Jha,  Asst  Professor Department  of Electronics, Dr  Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi and Dr  Varun Kumar Tripathi from Dept  of Philosophy, Dr  Sudesh Kumar,  Asst  Professor Dept  of Computer Science, and  Sumanta Sarathi Sharm,  Faculty Coordinator, Vikalp.
On the initiation of Vice Chancellor, SMVD University Prof Sanjeev Jain, five computers were donated by the network section and distributed to the toppers of the test. It was also decided to hold Computer courses in every academic semester.
