SAMBA, Apr 26: Panthers Party State president, Balwant Singh Mankotia has termed darbar move exercise as a burden on the State exchequer and demanded that being a welfare State, civil secretariat at Jammu and Srinagar should worked whole year for the welfare of the people of State.
As Haq-insaaf yatra started by Panthers party for separate Statehood for Jammu region today reached in Samba district to seek support for movement, Mankotia addressed various rallies at Vijapur, Smailpur, Badori and Raya Suchani.
While addressing the rallies, Mankotia said that the atmosphere of Kashmir is not conducive as law and order situation is totally collapsed and in such conditions its very difficult for employees to work in civil secretariat for six months. He demanded that civil secretariat should work whole year in winter capital Jammu so that grievances of people can be addressed.
While terming darbar move as a burden on State exchequer, Mankotia said being a welfare State, the process should be stopped as present era didn’t demand such practice. He recalled that Dogra rulers started this process in 1872 to listen the grievances of people of Kashmir as they faced hardship due to lack of roads, telephone and other links to highlight their demands. Keeping in view the problems being faced by Kashmir people, Maharaja started annual darbar move for winter and summer capital.
Panthers Party president said now many means of communications like road, rail, air, telephone, mobile facility is available and people can easily came to Jammu or Srinagar civil secretariat. Every year nearly Rs 300 crores are spent for this process which is burden on the State exchequer and Govt should start new initiative with the yearly working of civil secretariat at Srinagar and Jammu so that issues of people from both region would be addressed with saving of time and hard money of tax payers.
Provincial president Rajesh Pangotra also addressed different gatherings and highlighted issues related to Samba district.
