JAMMU, Apr 28: Congress activists held a strong protest demonstration against the Central and the State Govt for their utter failure to contain rising militancy and handle the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
A large number of Congress workers led by PCC general secretary Vikram Malhotra, carrying placards in their hands raising slogans, assembled at Purani Mandi, Jammu today and registered protest against the Govt.
Speaking on the occasion Malhotra said that entire country is worried about the repeated terrorist attacks happening in the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. He said rise in the graph of militant activities with reports of fresh recruitments of youth in militants cadres and general unrest and violence in the Valley speaks the depth of the situation.
Malhotra said despite of all this, the Govt is working directionless. It has no clear policy for J&K and the security scenario of the State has been worsening with every passing day. He said the Centre Government must wake up and take decisive measures, instead of rhetoric or making hard statements after every militant attack.
He said the recent attack in Kupwara in which three brave soldiers of Indian Army were martyred is heart breaking and Congress party stands by the families of the soldiers and Indian Army. He demanded immediate dismissal of State Government and imposition of Governor rule, as the present Coalition Government has failed on all fronts and the situation of the State especially the law and order has been collapsed.
Malhotra said India is a peace loving country and strong enough to defend its sovereignty but our neighbour is abetting and supporting militancy without caring its repercussions.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest included Thomas Khokhar, Pawan Dev Singh, Ajay Khanna, Dr Ashish Gupta, Babbu Shah, Raju Malhotra, Jang Bahadur, Shafqat Khokhar, Nasir Masih, Deepak Mehra, Divyansh Jamwal, Akash Nayyer, Ajay Sawhney, Manu Singh, Mohd Aslam, Sheli Mehra and others.
