Pune thumps RCB by 61 runs

PUNE: Rising Pune Supergiant registered a thumping 61 runs win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here today, thanks to RCB’s yet another batting collapse.

Winning the toss, Kohli decided to bowl first against Pune. After getting a decent start Pune managed to put up 157 runs on board, credit to the death over bowling by RCB.

Chasing a much gettable score, the Virat Kohli led side demonstrated yet another batting crisis. The star studded batting line up today included Kohli and AB de Villiers, where Kohli went down trying but De Villiers and others couldnt get going.

Opening with Travis Head, Kohli looked confident about chasing the total down. But Undakat drew first blood for Pune as he removed Travis (2) in the secopnd over. In came the South African maverick AB de Villiers when RCB was at 32.

It was a matter of anticipation that when De Villiers will start his slog hittings. But in the fifth over Lockie Ferguson scalped the prized wicket as ABD (3) struck the balls straight into the hands of short extra cover.

That was probably not enough to believe that RCB was going to be outplayed by the opponent as the Indian run machine was still at the crease. However Kohli needed someone to build a partnership with but wickets kept falling at regular intervals at his opposite ends. (AGENCIES)
