KATRA, Apr 29: The 21st meeting of the Governing Council for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, was held here where the arrangements for the Shastri (Graduation) classes commencing from mid July 2017 were finalised.
Dr. S S Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for Gurukul, chaired the meeting. Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Pankaj Gupta, Dy. CEO and Administrator of Gurukul; Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. CEO of the Shrine Board and Gopal Dass Sharma, Head Pujari, Bhawan, participated in the meeting.
After inspecting the ongoing work on the construction of Gurukul Phase-II, the Chairman and Members of the Governing Council advised for preparation of a detailed date wise PERT chart for each component of the Gurukul Phase-II so that all the required logistics are in place well before the start of the Shastri classes by mid of July 2017. In this connection, the meeting decided that faculty, staff and other wherewithal shall be ready in all respects by end of June so that the Gurukul Phase-II is operationalised by 1st July 2017.
It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board has decided to upgrade the Gurukul by making arrangements for Shastri course i.e. Graduation level, for which the classes will be started in the 2017-18 Session. For this purpose, a Hostel Block for students and Acharya Block for the Faculty, Temple and a Yagyashalla are being constructed to meet the needs of the future intake of students for the Shastri course.
Dr. Bloeria emphasised the need for forming alumni association of the outgoing students of the Gurukul so that they remain connected with their alma mater, as the first batch of the students is passing out their 12th class this year.
Governing Council also finalised the draft Annual Report of the Gurukul for the year 2016-17.
It is pertinent to recall that the Shrine Board had established the Gurukul in 2010 and at present 136 students are studying in VI to XII classes in this fully residential institution. They are being imparted education in Vedas, Sanskrit, religious scriptures, Karamkand and Pooja rituals, apart from being taught all modern subjects, including Science, Mathematics and Computers.
