One killed, 14 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Apr 29: One person was killed while 14 others were injured today in four separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to police sources, today at about 11.30 am, a speeding mini-bus bearing registration number JK02S-8466 hit a bike number JK02AH-9892 at Kanyal in Jhajjar Kotli area, resulting into serious injuries to the bike rider, who was identified as Baldev Raj son of Alla Ram, resident of Kanyala, tehsil Dansal.
“The injured man was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, sources said, adding, after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. They said that a case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and both the vehicles involved in the mishap were seized while efforts were on to nab the accused mini-bus driver.
Another mishap occurred at Jagti near petrol pump, where a mini-bus bearing registration number JK02BC-1024, which was carrying ‘baratis’ collided head on with a truck number JK02AF-4673. In the mishap, which occurred at about 1 am, nine persons were injured. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
The injured persons were identified as Naman Singh (16) son of Ashok Singh, Karan Singh (47) son of Ghar Singh, Pankaj Singh (23) son of Sardar Singh, Joravar Singh (14) son of Surinder Singh, all residents of Akhnoor, Vinod Manhas (28) son of Babu Singh of Jagti, Ajay Manhas (22) son of Naresh Manhas of Gho Manhasa, Deepak (28) son of Manohar Lal of Bohri, Mohinder Singh (43) son of Dheru Ram of Chargali and Rahul (19) son of Karan Singh of Gho Manhasa. The Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Three persons were injured when a car bearing registration number JK11A-6454 collided with another car bearing registration number JK20-1878 at Chowki Choura. The injured persons were identified as Mohd Isaq (45) son of Mohd Mirza Zinam, resident of Rajouri, his son namely Haq Nawaz (30) and Subhash Chander son of Tej Ram, resident of Reasi. All the three were shifted to GMCH for treatment while the concerned police had registered a case in this connection.
Two persons were also injured late last night when their scooties collided with each other on flyover near Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu. The injured were identified as PN Koul (48) son of late SN Koul of Jagti and Gourav Mahajan (37) son of Sunny Gupta of Paharian Mohalla (Jammu). They were hospitalized and Bus Stand police had taken cognizance of the matter.
