Bourn Hall International to add 3 fertility centres in India

NEW DELHI, Apr 30:  Bourn Hall International is aiming to open three more fertility centres in India by the end of 2018 as part of its expansion plans for the country.

The first clinic under the brand was set up in the UK in 1980 by Robert G Edwards and Patrick Steptoe who gave the world its first In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) baby.

“We are looking to open three more centres in India by the end of next year. Out of these we will be opening one centre in Delhi while for the other two we have not finalised the locations”, Bourn Hall International Global CEO Hoda Abou- Jamra said.

The company opened its first clinic in India in 2012 and has two clinics in the country, at present.

The investment on opening these three centres would be around USD 15 million (over Rs 96 crore). One of the centres will be a small centre, which costs around USD 2 million to set up, she added.

When asked how the company plans to raise funds for expansion, Abou-Jamra said: “It will be from private equity investors. We are open to new partners but we can do it ourself”.

As the Bourn Hall Fertility Centre is an international brand, “for us to grow, the most essential part is finding good trained doctors and trained embryologists. We have periodical medical audits in our clinics,” Abou-Jamra said. (PTI)
