Kashmir is yearning peace

Sir,
The long spell of turmoil in the valley of Kashmir has not only caused bloodshed but it has diluted the oldest ethos of Kashmiriyat even. Once called the Paradise on Earth, it looks now the dream of the past because of the adverse disposition in the Valley since 1990. Pakistan sponsored terrorism in the Indian territory has remained a continuous pressure on our security agencies. The losses we have sufferred in combating the challenge of terrorism is dreadful in Kashmir. The exile of KPs from the valley is a part of the game plan designed long back in Pakistan. The weakening of the nationalistic forces in the valley and promoting radicalisation has  been witnessed since 1986 when several temples got descrated openly in some parts of the valley.
Our security forces are fighting this battle with full substance and all patriotic people are indebted to them. These stonepelters belong to the families who live from hand to mouth and some politicians exploit them to enjoy their cosy chairs. The fear of gun has also added fuel to the fire. Common man in the valley yearns for peace. The recent Jashn-e-Baramulla festival in which large number of Kashmiri youth participated is a signal towards restoration of peace. The State Govt is very serious in the matter and time  is not now far away when the lasting peace will be restored in the valley.
Yours etc….
S N Raina
