MGNREGA employees optimistic about Minister’s assurance

JAMMU, May 3: All J&K MGNREGA Employees Association today expressed the hope that Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan will keep his promise made with the Association representatives one month back.
Talking to reporters here vice president of the Association Sandeep Kalotra said that one month ago minister has given an assurance to Association representatives that their demands will be fulfilled after the Model Code Of Conduct will be over.  Sandeep said  “we have put our demands  so many times before the  minister  and concerned authorities, which have not been fulfilled till date. He accused the Government of playing with the interests of youth. Most of the staff members are now overage and they are not eligible for any Government job. “But we have full faith in the minister’s assurance and he will keep his promise very soon” he added..
He also discussed problems of MGNREGA employees and said on October 27 , 2014 Union meeting was held in Jammu and Srinagar respectively in which many problems faced by the employees  since 2007 were highlighted.
On February 9, 2015 All J&K MGNREGA Association State vice president had appealed to the Governor N.N.Vohra to ensure implementation of SRO 255 for MGNREGA Employees.
He said on March 27 this year MGNREGA Employees Association protested demanding their regularization as the Government had failed to take any decision in this regard by that time.
Sandeep said on March 29 later Association representatives had a meeting with minister and Commissioner Secretary at the residence of the former. They again assured  us to fulfill the genuine demands of MGNREGA Employees Association within short period of time like job policy, job chart , staff deputation of technical  & non technical  staff  from other departments basic salary with yearly increment etc.
