SRINAGAR, May 5: Police today said a notorious drug peddler was arrested in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
An official spokesman said police nabbed notorious drug peddler namely Ashiq Ahmed Ganai who was involved in supplying narcotics and other psychotropic substance in different districts. A Special team was constituted by SSP Handwara Gulam Jeelani Wani led by SDPO Handwara Shabir Khan to nab the drug peddler.
The SDPO Handwara said on a specific input, police laid a special checkpoint on the outskirts of Handwara town. “We caught him red handed with consignment which he was going to deliver,” he said, adding police are interrogating him and some more arrests are possible.
“With his arrest there would be a remarkable control in circulation of drugs especially among youths,” he said.
