ATM fraud: Villager robbed of Rs 50,000

UDHAMPUR, May 6: In yet another incident of ATM fraud, a villager in Panchari tehsil was robbed of his bank saving of Rs 50,000 by unidentified online fraudster.
Same modus operandi was adopted by the fraudster, who managed ATM details from the account holders and then withdrew money from the bank account online.
The victim, namely Makhtyar Singh,  son of Jodh Singh of Meer,  tehsil Panchari has lodged a written complaint in this regard at Police Station Panchari, according to which, his wife Mohni Devi received a phone call by an unknown caller seeking ATM details  on the pretext that their card had got blocked due to technical reasons.
As the lady could not judge intentions of the caller, she provided the ATM details following which the couple came to know that an amount of rupees 50,000 was withdrawn online from the account on the same day.
Police has registered a case FIR no 17/17 under Section 420 RPC, 66 (C), 66 (D) IT Act and further investigation was going on.
