NDS presents Musical Evening

JAMMU, May 6: “Musical Evening” a programme based on the poetry of Sanjay Vidrohi was organised and presented jointly by Nami Dogri Sanstha, ACMAA and Dogra Mandal today at K L Saigal Hall, here.
B R Kundal, former Minister and Chief Secretary of the State and presently President Dharamarth Trust was the chief guest whereas D C Raina, former Advocate General and Patron of the Nami Dogri Sanstha presided over. Anjali Sharma, Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu was the Special Guest.
All the lyrics of Sanjay Vidrohi were composed by eminent composer Suraj Singh and prominent singers who gave melidious voice to these compositions were Master Kartar Chand, Suraj Singh, Surinder Kumar, Vandana, Rohit Sharma, Juhi, Mirnal Gupta and Dr Chanchal Sharma. The instrumentalists included Orchestra by Joginder Pal, Tabla by Rajesh Kumar, Guitar by Sanjay Pashi and by Synth Krishan Kumar Johny. Yash Pal Yash compered the programme with his usual befitting style.
Capt Lalit Sharma, Convener of Nami Dogri Sanstha in his welcome address said that Sanstha is working tirelessly for promotion of Dogri language for the last about 25 years now and has provided platform to the budding writers, artists and singers who have nicely come up in their respective fields.
B R Kundal while appreciating the endeavours of NDS said that the local language and its culture is evolved our thousands of years with a defined process of evolution which include the total sum of ethos, aspirations, social practices, environment and its impacts, social order, internal and external influences, geography of the region, means of livelihood of the people so on and so forth and over a period of time.
D C Raina said that the local language helps us in learning the other languages and cultures easily as your language is available to you as a reference language. While complimenting Suraj Singh for his compositions he lauded the performance of all singers and instrumentalists.
Anjali Sharma while describing Dogri a sweet language said that there is a need of larger campaign to ensure that our children speak Dogri understand Dogra culture and feel proud of rich Dogra history.
Dogra Harish Kaila complimented Randhir Singh, President, Dogra Mandal and Prof V N Kohli, President, ACMAA for their collaboration in the programme.
