RAJOURI, May 7: Two persons were killed while three others were injured in two separate road accidents at Seot and Bhimber Gali on Jammu-Poonch road today.
A police spokesman said that 40-year-old Ashok Kumar, a driver by profession, son of Bhagat Ram, resident of village Metka in Kalakote, was killed on the spot when he was hit by a speeding bus No. Jk02AP/9977 at Seot on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway at around 9.15 am this morning.
The people from the area gathered on the spot and then they blocked the highway and started protest demonstration. Dharamsal police led by SHO and Tehsildar concerned arrived there. They pacified the agitating people and provided Rs 20,000 to the victim’s family as immediate assistance out of Red Cross Fund. The traffic remained disrupted for about half an hour. The police has registered a case in this connection. The driver of the bus managed to escape from the spot.
Reports from Mendhar said that four persons were injured when a WagnR, bearing registration No. JK02BL/9965, rolled down into a gorge near Bhimber Gali today. The police and army jawans rushed to the site and evacuated the injured to nearby Army hospital. They were later, referred to District Hospital, Rajouri, where one Makhan Singh, son of Parkash Singh from Simbal Camp, R S Pura in district Jammu succumbed to injuries tonight.
The injured were identified as Jaspal Singh, son of Makhan Singh; Hardev Singh, son of Jaspal Singh and Harbans Kour, wife of Amar Singh, all residents of Simbal Camp, Jammu. Gursai police has taken cognizance of the matter.
