RAJOURI, May 8:  The people from  Chharung village and adjoining hamlets  in Rajouri district today held a strong protest demonstration against R&B Department and District Administration  and blocked Rajouri-Thannamandi-Mughal Road for more than three hours.
A large number of people from the village including women and children all the way from village came to the main Rajouri-Thannamandi road at around 8 am and sat on the dharna near Bharatpuri bridge. They burnt tyres of the vehicles and started protest demonstration against the Govt. They also raised slogans against local MLA from PDP.
The movement of traffic came to halt on this busy road and a long traffic jam was created. The villagers alleged that on several occasions survey of this hardly 2.5 kms road was conducted  but it was never constructed despite the fact that many roads under PMGSY have been constructed across the State. The people of this area are badly suffering  as they have to move on foot and even carry sick persons on cots.
They alleged that R&B authorities, District Administration and even local MLA despite several requests, failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people.  The road to the village was never constructed and even tractor road was not provided by RDD authoritjes.
Later, SDPO Thannamandi Iftikhar Talib and SDM,  Mohd Afzal Mirza arrived there and held long discussion with people.  Later, they managed to convince the agitating  villagers. The traffic on the road was restored  at around 11.20 am.
