Jan slams Govt for neglecting border people

POONCH,  May 8: Youth National Conference provincial president, Ajaz Jan today expressed surprise over rhetoric of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with regard to problems confronted to the border people, saying that the reality is that the PDP-BJP coalition has almost abandoned forward areas in respect of governance and development.
“Border people have been left to fend for themselves, especially at a time when the borders are quite hostile and fear of shelling keeps looming large on residents”, Jan said while interacting with deputations from various areas, which brought to his notice several problems faced to them on account of utility services, essentials and minimum basic necessities.
Jan said that the Coalition Govt has abdicated its responsibilities as a result of which the border areas continue remain at the receiving end. While power and drinking water facilities show no signs of improvement, the availability of ration at the CAPD outlets is scarce.  He said the Govt has stopped disbursement of sugar to the rationees and there is no check over the supply of food grains.
The NC leader said that for the past two years, people are running from pillar to post for compensation for the damages caused to their property, livestock due to border shelling. He sought immediate disbursement of the compensation and urged the administration to adopt pro-active approach for constructing shelter sheds and bunkers for civilians.
