JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today asked Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs(FCS&CA) department to work with added dedication and provide quality food grain to public.
The Minister issued the instruction to officers during a surprise visit at Food Godown, Nagotra to inspect quality and quantity of ration available there.
The Minister was accompanied by Director FCS&CA Jammu, R.A Inqalabi, Assistant Director Trade and Store Jammu Ankush Hans besides other concerned officers of the department.
Inspecting the stocks, Zulfkar asked the concerned officers to personally check the quality and quantity of ration being received from Food Corporation of India (FCI). He cautioned the officers that no compromise would be tolerated on quality of food grains and warned stern action in case of any laxity in this regard.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate availability of wheat, rice, sugar and other essential commodities in all parts of Jammu division. He also impressed upon the officers to personally monitor the ration supply to far-flung and remote areas so that the people living in these areas get regular supply.
Zulfkar also directed for proper stocking of sacks to prevent decay and other losses to food grains.
The Minister said that the government is working tirelessly to streamline the food grains distribution and requisite steps are being taken to ensure hassle free supply of ration to the people.
Earlier, the Minister also inspected the office of the Assistant Director Trade and Store (FCS&CA) at Nagrota to assess stock position of the food grains available. The Minister directed the concerned officers/officials to maintain the stock register up to date and dispatch the ration for distribution to the consumers well in time.
