NEW DELHI, May 12:
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has signed an MoU with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) to explore avenues of educational exchange in faculty research, collaborative research projects, student programmes of IGNCA and IGNOU.
In a statement, IGNOU VC Ravindra Kumar said, “The aim of the collaboration is to offer credit/non-credit courses to students in the fields of Sanskrit, textual research, Vedic studies, translation studies, oral traditions, manuscriptology, folklore, traditional knowledge system, performing arts, story-telling traditions, cultural informatics, conservation, diaspora, media and communication, social work and other area of studies with IGNOU.”
The agreement was signed yesterday by IGNOU Registrar Admin SK Sharma and IGNCA Director (Admin) Anurag Trivedi in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, IGNOU and Dr Sachidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA.
With MoU, IGNOU would be able to access and use (for academic purposes) IGNCA library and archival resources and vice-versa for IGNOU library and its digital resources.
”Our student enrollment figure has crossed three billion; and the annual intake is about 10-lakh. A little more than 50,000 University teachers have become our partners, we call them academic counsellors. These counsellors are available to us for all kinds of academic purposes like development of courses, examination and counselling of students,” Mr Kumar added. (UNI)
