LOS ANGELES, May 13: Singer Avi Kaplan has announced his departure from a cappella group Pentatonix in an emotional Facebook video.
The 28-year-old bass vocalist Kaplan said he had been struggling with the decision for a while, reported Variety.
In the clip, he was accompanied by his fellow bandmates: Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola and Kirstin Maldonado.
Kaplan said a large part of the pop group’s success is due to the fast pace of their engagements, and that throughout his time with it, he has had a hard time coping with the inability to see his friends and family when he needed to.
“I believe in what we do, and I believe in what they will do. I could never inhibit their success in any way. I would never, ever want that,” he said in the video.
Kaplan, who sang bass for the group, said he will continue to create music. He added that he will still be performing in all of their upcoming tour dates. (PTI)
