BANIHAL, May 14: Raising the employment issue of youth, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party’s state president Balwant Singh Mankotia ( Ex-MLA) has asked the Government to make sure that priority should be given to local youth by companies executing development works in State.
Mankotia said that despite norms prescribed by the State Government, some companies have hired employees from outside the State ignoring hard-worker, skilled youth of J&K State.
Addressing local people during his party’s ‘Haq Insaf Yatra’ in Banihal area today, the former MLA Udhampur said that Coalition Govt should exert pressure on the construction companies executing various roads, tunnel, railway line and hydel projects to give priority to the local youth.
Mankotia raised the issue of unemployment of youth in hilly area. He said that four to five reputed private companies are working in Banihal, Ramban area and executing construction work of railway track and four laning of National Highway. But unfortunately these companies by violating the norms and agreement have engaged youth from outside the State ignoring locals to provide employment to them.
Govt had directed the companies to provide employment to local youth while executing development works in any area. Unfortunately companies working in Jammu region have engaged employees from outside the state and only thin representation has given to local youth, Mankotia regretted.
The NPP leader said that the contractors who have engaged the local youth have adopted discriminatory attitude by providing 10 to 12 thousand per month while youth engaged directly with companies from outside State are getting higher wages, which is sheer violation of Labour laws.
He demanded that State Government should issue orders to different heads of the department to make sure that priority should be given to local youths by the company executing development work in state otherwise Panther Party will launch State wide agitation.
