JAMMU, May 16: Accusing certain old politicians of creating confusion because of being out of power, the former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has stressed for firm dealing with the neighbouring Pakistan which has come to be a rogue as being an epicentre of cross border terror and many other ills including that of bigotry.
Prof Gupta pointed out that in the troubled Valley of Kashmir, these former rulers are asking the separatists to move forward and their party would back them in their struggle.
Not only this the gun totting youth and stone pelters are encouraged by stating that they are fighting for the Azadi of “Kashmir nation”, he added and pointed out that on reaching Jammu sympathies are being expressed with the borders villagers who are getting killed and injured because of the Pakistani shelling and firing, as also it is being pressed that India and Pakistan should have dialogue to settle the Kashmir problem as the real sufferers are the people of the State.
Prof Gupta also pointed out that on reaching New Delhi, these very politicians are stressing for action with the Government leaders and on the other hand opposition, especially the Congress leadership is being advised that they should evolve some strategy to have political solution to the imbroglio as “Kashmir is slipping out of hand”, he alleged that an attempt is being made to create a scar in the country under design.
He also said that talks could not be one sided affair and that too under the shadow of the gun and stones. In this connection Prof. Gupta recalled that last year an all party delegation of the Parliament members went to Srinagar with obvious purpose for initiating a dialogue but the separatist leaders closed their door and did not have the courtesy to offer a cup of tea to the visiting leaders. Was it not against the Kashmiriyat and moreso, the manners.
Prof. Gupta said that what is happening in Kashmir is not new. It is another phase of the proxy war launched by Pakistan. It needed to be handled firmly, as it has come to be a part of the culture of several elements in Pakistan to commit barbarities coupled with the growing fanaticism enshrined in the old philosophy of medieval thinking and approach.
