NASHIK: The crime branch team of Nashik City police have arrested eight people for allegedly organising betting on an Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket match from a bunglow in Wadala area of the city.
According to police sources, they received a tip-off about betting on IPL match in Wadala area. Acting on information, the crime branch unit laid a trap and raided the bungalow yesterday and arrested eight people — six people hailing from Nagpur and two from Bihar. The crime branch officials also confiscated 79 mobile phones, three laptop LED TV sets, voice recorder and other electronic material of worth Rs 4 lakh from them. The arrested are Lokesh alias Lucky Manoharlal Khatri (33), Sharad Mohan Nakote (46), Mohmed Shahabad Shaikh (27), Rajesh Laxman Kale (45), Amit Ramakant Tridevi (33) — all residents of Nagpur; Sajid Bkashta (30) from Gondiya and Rajesh Kamasti (22) and Suraj Kamasti (40) from Darbhanga Bihar. Police have registered an offense against all suspects in Mumbai Naka police station. (AGENCIES)
