JAMMU, May 21: Shankar Shesh’s Hindi play “Fandi” best play production in district Drama festival-2017, was staged on award ceremony function at Abhinav Theatre Jammu by Abhinaya Kala Manch, Reasi, under the direction of Shadab Khan which was organized by J and K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
Dr Aziz Hajini Secretary J and K Academy of Art Culture and Languages was the chief guest on the occasion.
The play Fandi was also awarded with best Director to Shadab Khan, Best Actress to Anjali Anand, Best Set to Rifat Khan, Best Lights to Tarsem Kumar and Merit Certificates to Rohit Kumar as Hasrat , Vishali Devi as Aurat while Tarsem Kumar as Vakil Bhagat Ram. Best child award was received by Natasha Thakur from Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi.
The chief guest honoured and distributed the awards to Awardees of the different Theatre Groups of Reasi, Kathua, Udhampur and Jammu who were present on the occasion and witnessed the play.
Fandi play portrays the pathetic feelings of a son who has to mercy kill his father. Unable to bear the torture which his father is suffering for being a poor cancer patient, Fandi is forced to do such an act. Poverty stricken Fandi could no longer provide required medical aid and having exhausted all the resources, he has no option, other than to yield to his father’s pleadings for giving him a respectable death. Now begin the actual conflict when Fandi has to encounter the charges of having murdered his father.
The artists who performed in the play were Shadab Khan, Tarsem Kumar, Anjali Anand, Sachdev Singh, Anil Kumar, Hardeep Bhagat, Raj Vijay Singh, Rohit Kumar, Pritam Kumar, Vishali Devi, Mahinder Sharma and Vijay Paul. While lights designed by Tarsem Kumar, sound by Ajay Singh Jamwal, set designed by Rifat Khan, Make-up by Vishali and Costumes by Anjali Anand.
